143 Days?? That is how many days out of 356 that Obama was present at his current JOB as a U.S. Senator before deciding to be POTUS. For those of you who have trouble with math, that means he was absent 213 days or 60% of the time. If you were absent 60% of the time – would you still be employed? Union employees don’t bother to answer, we know you would…
Via WEB Commentary:
Senate records reveal that the Amazing Mr. Obama has been in the US Senate since Jan. 4, 2005 ( the date of his inauguration).
They further show that although the Senate had been in session 356 days in 2005 and 2006, the Amazing Mr. Obama had only been present 143 days before he decided to form a Presidential Exploratory Committee in January of 2007. This is experience?
The Amazing Mr. Obama since Jan. 4 2005 sponsored 136 bills of which 122 haven’t made it out of committee, BUT only 2 were successfully enacted. He must have a very busy staff. The Amazing Mr. Obamas sponsored bills that passed the Senate included:
S.Con.Res. 25: A concurrent resolution condemning the recent violent actions of the Government of Zimbabwe against peaceful opposition party activists and members of civil society. Jun 26, 2007
S.Res. 600: A resolution commemorating the 44th anniversary of the deaths of civil rights workers Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner in Philadelphia, Mississippi, while working in the name of American democracy to register voters and secure civil rights during the summer of 1964, which has become known as “Freedom Summer”. Jun 24, 2008
S.Res. 268: A resolution designating July 12, 2007, as “National Summer Learning Day”. Jul 13, 2007
S.Res. 133: A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson. Mar 28, 2007
I hope the Illinois voters that paid his $165,000 a year salary, plus perks got their monies worth.
Maybe he should talk more about being a Community Leader afterall…
…and your point is what exactly? Before you start throwing stones, how about you take a look at the record of the “maverick” you are rooting for…
He’s sponsored 537 bills since 1993 (!!) and only 31 were enacted. Obama has sponsored 1/3 as many bills as him in just two three years…
If anything issue over number of bills that have made it out of committee or have been enacted is not a totally fair measure of the quality of a leader, but a picture of how slow Congress actually moves to get stuff done.
TQL,
The point is its only 143 days worked in office before he set his sights on a bigger prize.
If I was absent 60% of the time at my job, I would no longer have that job. If I had aspirations of become the leader at my place of work, I would be laughed at. It doesn’t even matter that I may have done a lot of good things in the 40% of the time I was there. The fact that I started there and barely got situated before I began seeking a higher position speaks volumes about possible corruption. The only way I would even be able to pull that off is if someone else was pulling the strings.
In Obama’s case, that is EXACTLY what is happening. Someone else is pulling the strings.
Gave it a shot.
DONE!
No “change” here. Nothing to see.
After Palin’s miserable performance last night, don’t even start talking about whose pulling strings, Jerry. At least Obama can articulate HIS stance on issues and HIS perspective on governance and policy – and doesn’t rely on information and messaging fed to him from on high.
Yes, his rise to where he is remarkable. But, I’m not going to start spinning conspiracy out of my ass that he is some sort of Manchurian Candidate, like you are attempting to do.
Mark,
The “change” had nothing to do with Rose’s opinions or the slant of the blog, it was more to prevent the inmates from running the asylum.
TQL,
I’m sorry, I must have missed the miserable performance by Palin. Do you have a You Tube of it?
You keep saying Obama is articulating HIS stance. I don’t see it. I can’t wait for the debates when no one can rely on a teleprompter. That’ll be fun..
When he is President he can do as GWB and spend 80% of his time in Camp David.
